I had to rush after work to meet with a notary, so we didn’t get much time for fun yesterday.  What we did try out, however, made for the best hour of the day.  I’m talking specifically about Mount Your Friends.

I got this thing on the Xbox Live Indie section for a dollar.  You control jointed man-puppets that only wear a headband and a banana-hammock.  And those man bits are swingin’.  You would think that I wouldn’t get so hyped about dick physics, but it adds an inappropriate flair that turns a clunkily controlled dog-pile simulator into laugh-out-loud amusement.

You control your puppet men one at a time, with each of the four face buttons being tied to a limb.  When a hand or foot touches something, it sticks, but holding one of the buttons lets you let go with that appendage and control the limb with the analog stick.  Using this movement system, you must climb on top of a goat and reach up as high as you can.

If you are playing multiplayer, then your opponent must climb up the goat and then onto your last guy to reach up even higher.  After the first turn, the climb must be made with a 60 second timer counting down.  The first person to fail to reach the top within 60 seconds loses.

I heard about this game thanks to Two Best Friends Play Xbox Live Indie Games IV on YouTube.  It looked like a lot of fun then, but I promptly forgot it existed.  I recently ended up with some Xbox Live money to burn, and I just couldn’t decide what deserved it.  This has a lot to do with the fighting game post from Tuesday.

I was trying out Xbox Arcade demos of various fighting games that I might like.  The experience was unpleasant thanks to my terribility, and I wasn’t sure I’d ever find a good use for the funds.  I know there are many good games in the Arcade, but I have the best of the best on Steam already.  Then I thought about T.E.C. 3001 and remembered that Matt and Pat tend to find one good Indie game each time they jaunt into that cesspool.

Now remembering that hilarity, I went to purchase Mount Your Friends along with Super Amazing Wagon Adventure.  They were a dollar each; I couldn’t believe it.  Mount has already proven it’s value and I don’t expect less of Wagon Adventure.  It didn’t exactly spend all of the Xbox Live money, but I can’t argue with an excellent price.

Annie and I had a blast, and this is definitely coming out the next time we have friends over.  As I understand it, it’s supports four players, but I’m not sure what mode that happens in.

Drunk people absolutely must play this.  I highly recommend it.  It’s coming to Steam too via Greenlight.  It’s always nice to see how a little Let’s Play exposure can boost the sales and reputation of a real gem in the turd pile that is the Xbox Indie catalog.
